I found these three readings very interesting. I was made to go to college, whether I wanted to or not. Even though I would have anyway, I would be very interested in what kind of career I could have available to me without obtaining a college degree. All three of these articles discuss the fact that a college degree is not necessarily as important to finding a good job as it used to be. Most employers look for it in their employees, but if they have experience instead it may look just as good, if not better than, a college degree. I haven't really thought about whether or not a college degree is really that important for landing a job in today's growing world, but after reading these articles I'm very curious as to why so many high school students decide that they need to go to college regardless of what they want to eventually do with their lives. Do other students not know that they might not necessarily need their degree? Or do they know this and just think that their chances are still better with it than without it? I also wonder if the ones that do know that their degree isn't completely necessary to get a job are coming to college because experience is hard to obtain on your own. If I decided not to go to college because I could do my job without a degree I would still need experience in order to get a good job, but I wouldn't even know where to start to look for certain kinds of experience. I think this has a lot to do with why students don't decide to just start out by going straight into the workforce.
